Careers Help Service Notice
Being a Careers Practitioner I am required to make you aware of both of our rights and responsibilities in any careers sessions we have. Please let me know if you do not agree to any of the following:
Working together
Careers counselling & support is a 2-way street, I am more than happy to do things to help you but there are some things along the way you will need to do yourself also.
Ongoing sessions
In most cases we will need to meet a few times to follow up on what we have discussed, this may be done via email, online or face-to-face. It is a good idea to bring a note pad to jot down any suggestions or actions you need to take.
Note taking
I will take notes as we chat to help me remember all the important information you are sharing with me, this is important for me to best help you throughout the process.
Confidential
The notes I take and what we talk about in the sessions are both confidential, and there are only in certain situations I may need to share what we have discussed:
- If you give me permission as we may need other people input or assistance
- If you disclose something which makes me believe you or someone else is in danger
No Judgement
My obligations as a Career practitioner is that I will show you respect and will not judge you, I expect respect in return
Ending the meeting
We both have a right to feel safe throughout our sessions
At any time you are allowed to request we stop talking about something or end the session if you feel like you need to.
